The 1140 Expansion

The number of free hours every child in the UK will be entitled to is increasing to 1140 hours or just under 28.5 hours a

week in term time. This is almost double the current 600 hours available.

At Auchenblae Pre-School Group

As a partner provider to the council we have been offered the opportunity to offer 1140 hours from April 2019, starting after the Easter holidays, as part of their roll out of the expansion. They hope to learn from how we organise our sessions and how parents chose to use the service, so this is considered a trial of a new system. However as a parent you may consider it the start of 1140 hours.

Our Extended Ours

The funding is guaranteed by Aberdeenshire council and will continue up to and beyond the August 2020 national start date for the expansion. We will be open from 9:15 - 3 daily in term time. In response to our community consultation we will continue to offer shorter sessions as well, with flexible pick up and drop off options.

Do I Qualify?

From the term after your child turns three they qualify for government funding, and from April at the Auchenblae Pre-School that means you will qualify for up to 1140 hours annually. There are no restrictions on who can apply but is dependant on the number of spaces available. We aim to accommodate as many as we can.
